Tesla has introduced a Chill Mode for its Model S and Model X electric vehicles, toning down the rapid acceleration that its EV’s are capable of.
It’s easier to drive with your thumbs tucked in, but you will have to use the handbrake, which is a stretch when also navigating the regular brakes, gas and turning inputs. I don’t know if there’s a better way, except maybe a Ken Block-style stick jutting off the side of the pedals. At any rate, the Thrustmaster Sparco P310 is by far the best -- and most expensive (checking in at 700 smackers) -- wheel we’ve ever tested.
Traveling the globe to race in both the WEC and F1 in the same season sounds grueling, but it might be possible. The circuits have provisional schedules, and there's just one conflict — the U.S. Grand Prix and a WEC race in Japan are both penciled in for Oct. 21.
I would be getting a Thor Vegas, technically a Class A but with “many of the advantages of the smaller Class C.” It's shaped like an A on the outside but rides on a Ford E450 van chassis with a 6.8-liter Ford Triton V10 making 305 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It's 26 feet, 6 inches long, 11 feet, 3 inches high (not counting the air conditioner and TV antenna) and 7 feet, 10 inches wide, not counting the mirrors.
What lets the little Nissan down is its 0.9-litre petrol engine, our preference remember over the 1.5 diesel and the non-turbocharged 1.0 petrol. Although at cruising speeds the engine is quiet and refined, with enough thrust to make overtaking almost effortless, there just isn't enough power at lower speeds.
PSA plans a return to the U.S. and earlier this year named former Nissan executive Larry Dominique to spearhead the project as senior vice president of PSA North America.
Burns said that the company is hoping for its first manned flight of the vehicle toward the end of the year or the first week of January and hinted that there may be a first public demo at the 2018 CES technology show in early January. Considering Workhorse’s wide portfolio of intended products, from larger delivery trucks to vans and pickups and from copters to drones, what comes as a complete surprise is that the company operates in the minor margins. A third-quarter financial report this last week listed total operating expenses, including R&D, of $8.4 million for the quarter. That’s small change; by comparison, Tesla’s R&D spending in the same quarter was at about $332 million, and BMW’s was $4.1 billion. Burns agrees that while they’ve done a lot with a little, they need a partner to see the full vision through.
"I found out the mayor of Detroit had a tougher problem than I had as president of Ford," Miller said in a 1998 interview. "He was short of money, short of time and short of qualified people. We really didn't know how to help him."
Antifreeze, as its name suggests, stops the water in the engine’s cooling system from freezing. To test the effectiveness of your antifreeze, an antifreeze tester is available for about £5. To use it, unscrew the coolant reservoir cap under the bonnet (ensuring the engine is cold first), lower the tube into the coolant and squeeze the rubber bulb on the end to suck some antifreeze inside the tester.
