The heart of the Accord line is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four backed by a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This is the powertrain that will be found in most of the Accords sold at retail, the ones dealers push out the door every day wearing $199 monthly leases or 72 months of $300-per-month financing. A million or more Accords equipped like this will make their way onto American roads over the next several years before Honda even thinks about revising this powertrain. If you don’t wind up driving a car like this yourself, it’s likely someone in your immediate family will. Maybe even someone with whom you’re on speaking terms.

Workhorse hasn’t yet said much about the HorseFly drone that comes with the N-Gen, but it’s a model that the company engineered in-house. It will deploy from the vehicle and will be software linked, so that it might be able to take a small package to a nearby cul-de-sac, for instance, while a larger one is being delivered. This isn’t the only company vying for the last-mile delivery business and its electric future. One particularly well-funded effort is Chanje, a startup that has managed to recruit former executives from Volkswagen, Tesla, and one earlier fleet-focused company, Smith Electric Vehicles. And a Hybrid Helicopter for Two Workhorse also has a larger, manned aircraft under development. The unique eight-blade SureFly Octocopter, which the company revealed at the Paris Air Show this summer, can hold the pilot plus one other occupant. It’s also an electrified product, but with power sources prioritized the opposite way compared to its trucks; there, a gasoline engine provides power to the electrically driven prop system, and twin battery packs serve as a five-minute power backup, allowing the pilot enough time to land if they run out of fuel or the engine fails.
"If you get in trouble with your line boss, you get transferred," he often told the company's controllers. "But if you get in trouble with me, you get fired! Their job was to blow the whistle if they thought something was wrong."
Spy shots also suggest that the car is ready for its full unmasking. The car pictured earlier this year is disguised heavily, but that doesn’t hide the new shape, strongly influenced by the QX50 Concept. As such, the final production model seems likely to take on many of its design cues with little or no change.
So we’re going to be running this for the next few months to see if it can live up to those bold economy claims (unlikely, we know, but it’ll be interesting to see what we can actually get from it in everyday use) and, of course, to see how it stacks up as a used proposition. Is it too early to say our Outlander will live up to those impressive economy figures? Definitely maybe, some might say.Opel has already dipped its toes into the Chinese and Russian markets. It sold about 5,000 cars annually in China in the early part of the decade, but sales were limited because of high tariffs on imports. The brand was also launched in Russia with some success over a decade ago, but sales came to an end when GM pulled out of the country in 2015 following a major market downturn.
No class of the new car market is more talked about nowadays than the crossover category. What started out as a niche bodystyle barely a decade ago is now one of the most desirable around for new car buyers, and to keep up with demand new models are being launched at a rate of knots. One of the hottest new arrivals comes from SEAT; the all-new Arona small SUV.
Essentially a fancy term for leasing, these deals remove much of the hassle that comes with car ownership – although, unlike personal contract purchase deals, they don't give you the option to buy the car outright at the end of the term.
