We have bad news and good news about it: It’s not a real car, but you can drive it—at least virtually. The Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo is a digitally rendered concept car made specifically for the latest edition of the Gran Turismo game for Playstation 4, called Gran Turismo Sport. It has us salivating over the possibility of a real-life Honda sports car in this same vein. A mid-engined two-door coupe with futuristic but not outlandish styling cues, the Sports Vision certainly shares some visual DNA with the current Acura NSX. Its low, angular front end is similar, as are the large air intakes aft of the doors. Although it doesn’t actually exist, Honda says that the Sports Vision Gran Turismo only weighs 1982 pounds thanks to several carbon-fiber bits. That featherweight construction makes the car’s hypothetical powertrain—a 404-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with VTEC mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission—particularly enticing, as it would give the car an highly impressive power-to-weight ratio. A tight two-seat cabin features an unconventionally shaped spaceship-like steering wheel and a minimalist dashboard with two climate-control knobs, a few toggle switches, a push-button shifter, and not much else.
Ian praised the extra practicality the Arona offers over a traditional supermini. “It’s got a really good use of internal space, making the most of the Ibiza platform,” he told us. “My Nissan Qashqai is a higher car, but it feels almost as spacious.”
What do you get when you outfit a Ford Mustang with a racetrack-ready chassis and a high-revving V-8 engine? The spectacular Shelby GT350, of course. Its muscular proportions are exaggerated by stretched scoops and special splitters to manipulate airflow. Out of the box, the track-focused GT350R is stripped of superfluous stuff such as a back seat and rigged with racing equipment (such as carbon-fiber wheels). Both Mustangs make glorious sounds and put power down with a standard 526-hp naturally aspirated V-8 and a six-speed manual gearbox. While the Shelby is outgunned at the drag strip by the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, Ford has heavily transformed its twin snakes for hypnotic high performance.

Of course, one purpose of any small-engined Chevy Camaro has always been to persuade buyers to purchase a more powerful version, and we acknowledge that the V-6 still feels like a sizable step up from the base turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. While we doubt that Camaro V-6 1LE buyers will ever grow tired of the grip generated by this chassis, whether on a road course or an actual road, we suspect many of them may regret not digging deeper for a V-8.
