The XJ's interior is looking a bit dated these days next to newer rivals, but it still has a wonderful ambience. Up front, the diamond-quilted seats (embossed with some questionable '575' branding) come with a wide range of adjustment, and those in the rear are treated to plenty of leg room; there’s little reason to opt for the long-wheelbase variant.
While with its design the QX50 may stick to tried and tested brand methods, big changes should be coming under the bonnet. The QX50 Concept revealed at Detroit was used to preview the brand’s new variable-compression turbo petrol engine –a downsized petrol 2.0-litre power unit that will replace the ageing 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine currently used across the brand’s line-up.
So we’re going to be running this for the next few months to see if it can live up to those bold economy claims (unlikely, we know, but it’ll be interesting to see what we can actually get from it in everyday use) and, of course, to see how it stacks up as a used proposition. Is it too early to say our Outlander will live up to those impressive economy figures? Definitely maybe, some might say.The X2's engine range will grow soon after launch, with the addition of more petrol and diesel models, including petrols with four-wheel drive. Our favourite engine in the X1 is the sDrive18d diesel; in the X2, this engine produces 148bhp and returns up to 62.8mpg.

Alan Gilmour, retired vice chairman and CFO at Ford, who was mentored by the Whiz Kids early in his career, credits Miller as well as fellow Whiz Kid Ed Lundy for placing a priority on personnel management at the company.
He attempted to enlist in the U.S. military during World War II but was rejected because of poor eyesight, The New York Times reported. Miller was later drafted into the Army Air Forces, where he taught fledgling pilots on a flight simulator and then enrolled in a statistical program for officers at Harvard.
