The Accord is available with a full toy box of technology, too. That’s what buyers want, and Honda does a particularly good job of integrating it all to the point of near elegance. The ergonomics are good, the seats are pedestals of perforated leather happiness, the controls make sense, and everything the driver touches feels high grade. The interface between human being and car is elevated to a new level with this Accord.

These small indiscretions give the Micra a couple of big black marks against its otherwise impressive package. Don’t get me wrong, if you invested in one you would be getting a superb supermini that is well appointed and is better to drive than most in this class. But the Ibiza and the Fiesta have an added layer of polish that you would expect for a car priced as ours is.

Short answer: pretty much everything. Also, the Accord’s two-door variant has passed beyond the veil, marking the final transit of the mass-market mid-size coupe. Two turbocharged four-cylinder engines now make up the Accord’s nonhybrid powertrain lineup, replacing a naturally aspirated four-cylinder and a V-6. A hybrid variant will join the rest of the family on dealer lots in early 2018, rounding out the new Accord’s lineup.
