If you frequently drive in winter, then consider buying a set of winter tyres. They offer exceptional grip when the temperature drops below seven degrees, and while they're effective in snow and ice, they also perform better than summer tyres when it's wet. They’re not cheap, but are well worth the investment for the additional safety they bring.
After its debut in the 2016 Civic, where it’s an upgrade over the base 158-hp, naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the 1.5-liter spread to the ludicrously popular CR-V crossover as an upgrade over the standard 184-hp, naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four. In the Civic it’s rated at 174 horsepower—except in the supertasty Si, where it spins out 205 ponies. In the CR-V, it lights off at 190 horsepower.
"During his time as president and a member of the board of directors, Arjay’s guidance and leadership played an important role in the company’s turnaround after World War II and through the changing times of the 1960s," Bill Ford said in a statement Wednesday.
The upcoming SUV will be based on the same underpinnings as the Skoda Kodiaq – a car that scooped our Large SUV of the Year award back in January. Both five and seven-seat versions will be offered and, like the Ateca, will be geared towards agility rather than off-road prowess.
What you’re looking at is the rumored baby NSX that has been talked about among Honda fanatics for quite some time. We have bad news and good news about it: It’s not a real car, but you can drive it—at least virtually. The Honda Sports Vision Gran Turismo is a digitally rendered concept car made specifically for the latest edition of the Gran Turismo game for Playstation 4, called Gran Turismo Sport. It has us salivating over the possibility of a real-life Honda sports car in this same vein. A mid-engined two-door coupe with futuristic but not outlandish styling cues, the Sports Vision certainly shares some visual DNA with the current Acura NSX. Its low, angular front end is similar, as are the large air intakes aft of the doors. Although it doesn’t actually exist, Honda says that the Sports Vision Gran Turismo only weighs 1982 pounds thanks to several carbon-fiber bits. That featherweight construction makes the car’s hypothetical powertrain—a 404-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with VTEC mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission—particularly enticing, as it would give the car an highly impressive power-to-weight ratio. A tight two-seat cabin features an unconventionally shaped spaceship-like steering wheel and a minimalist dashboard with two climate-control knobs, a few toggle switches, a push-button shifter, and not much else.
That night, camped out in the driveway of the Lancia engine owner, I enjoyed total comfort on that aft-cabin queen-size bed. The windows all had black-out, or near-black-out, curtains and it was peaceful as pie. I could get used to this RV Lifestyle.
It’s easy to drive, too. So far, I’ve discovered the best thing to do is to sit there and try to work out what methods of propulsion the PHEV’s using. There is a handy energy flow display on the screen that shows you just that and, as with all similar cars, the object soon becomes seeing how long you can keep the car going on full electric drive around town before the engine cuts in. I dare say there’ll be a lot more on that in future reports.
Krause's departure is expected to deal another major blow to Faraday following a string of disappointments. The company's fundraising efforts faltered this summer after LeEco money dried up, reportedly due to Yueting's unwillingness to step down from the company, as well as rumors of an impending bankruptcy that were sparked by filing papers that Faraday says had been faked by someone.
When riots rocked Detroit in 1967, Miller and Ford responded by recruiting minorities in the city. Miller also helped found the Economic Development Corp. of Greater Detroit to nurture small businesses owned and operated by African-Americans.
The group sent a telegram to Ford requesting a meeting about “a matter of management importance” and were quickly invited to Dearborn by Henry Ford II.
Winter weather is frequently wet, and this draws all the dirt and road salt from the road surface, so you’ll spend lots of time using your windscreen wipers. Assuming your wipers are in good shape, there’s still a high risk of them smearing grime across the windscreen if your screen wash bottle is empty.
