Check your car battery
Bozi Tatarevic posted the image shown above on Twitter yesterday, which he cribbed from Mopar Tech Authority, FCA’s OEM service site. Engine options beyond the two we’ve come to know in the States include a 2.2-liter diesel and a 350-hp version of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas burner. Tatarevic noted that the site does show global service info, so we reached out to FCA for clarification and received the following from Alfa Romeo USA product communications manager Berj Alexanian: “No plans for any other engines for Giulia in North America for 2018 model year besides the 2.0L and 2.9L [gasoline] versions.” The Quadrifoglio, in case you weren’t aware, is powered by a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6.
My goal for the weekend was the Sierra Nevada mountain town of Bishop, California, or just north of Bishop. I was delivering a spare engine to a friend. I’ll take any excuse to do a weekend adventure. The engine was a Lancia V4 (the engine I was delivering, not the engine in the Thor). It (the Lancia engine) had been rebuilt by the experts at Alfa Italia in Burbank and they wanted it out of there. I and several friends wrestled the engine up the Thor Vegas’ steps, rested it on a couple sheets of plywood, wrapped it in cardboard and tied it into place securely. With that I turned north.
Many of Ford's operating problems were solved by adopting simpler practices, Miller said. Ford, for instance, paid workers in cash -- a cumbersome task -- because Henry Ford had seen workers going into bars to cash paychecks and didn't approve.
Oversteer affects the rear wheels, and there are two types of oversteer to contend with. The first happens under braking, where the car's weight transfers towards the front of the car, causing the rear end to become light and lose grip. If you are steering, then the momentum can then bring the back end of the car around like a pendulum. In this instance, you need to steer into the skid, so if the car swings out to the left, you need to steer to the left.
Indeed, he was right: it is a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid (PHEV) – bang on-trend for our changing times, despite actually having been on sale in the UK since 2014. Underneath our Mitsubishi’s long bonnet is a conventional 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to two battery-driven electric motors, one at the front and one at the rear, enabling the Outlander PHEV to be driven by engine power alone, by the batteries or by a combination of the two. These batteries can be charged a little while the car’s on the move or plugged into the mains for a much more sizeable dosage. Fully charged, our PHEV should then have an electric-only range of around 30 miles. Perhaps more impressively, its official fuel consumption is listed at 166.1mpg and its CO2 figure as 41g/km, which is extraordinarily good for such a large and practical five-seat SUV.
The EPA rates the Accord 1.5T’s Sport and Touring trims with the CVT at 29 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined; the lower-spec LX, EX, and EX-L models achieve higher ratings of 30/38/33 mpg. While it was in our leadfooted possession for 590 miles, our Accord returned 30 mpg. Not shabby but not quite vicuña, either.
The group sent a telegram to Ford requesting a meeting about “a matter of management importance” and were quickly invited to Dearborn by Henry Ford II.
What the 2018 Accord brings is a next-level driving experience. This Honda interacts with its driver almost intuitively; there’s an eagerness that isn’t available in its competitors. Let’s start with the transmission.
Miller created Ford's first annual report -- complete with financial tables, charts and footnotes and what he described as "a nice cover."
